Hello out there in “Help! I need an Artist” land! My name is Marina and I’ve been a certified Makeup Artist for 11 years, and a licensed hair stylist for 7. I’ve always had a love for film, cartoons, Disney, and pretty much anything nerd related. My love for makeup started at a very young age. Some major inspiration for me are the films The Wizard of Oz , Star Wars, Beetlejuice, and Michael Jackson’s short film  “Thriller”. I come from a huge family of writers, producers, stylists, photographers, puppeteers, and animators. So being creative is definitely in my blood. I consider myself to be (and have the references to prove) highly professional, responsible, and reliable. I graduated from Cinema Makeup school in Los Angeles California in 2007, and have been working as an artist ever since.

Special Effects Makeup & Film

I began my career as a Special FX artist in 2007 working in some of L.A’s top FX Labs. Such as A.D.I and Almost Human Effects. Working on such films as X Men Origins: Wolverine, starring Hugh Jackman. And Cirque Du Freak, starring Salma Hayek and John C. Reilly. I’ve also done seasonal work for Knott's Scary Farm, Universal Horror Nights, Hot Topic, and Delusion, one of Los Angeles’ top Immersive Theatre groups. And I’ve had the pleasure of doing set work for the following companies: Ubisoft, Monkey Wrangler Productions, KTLA, Evite, Cinemax, SyFy Network, LOGO TV, The Good Company, Fox, Red 5 Studios, and L.A. Fashion Week.

Beauty Makeup & Retail

In 2010 I went back to school for my cosmetology license, and put my FX career on hold. While in school I obtained a job at Sephora, as a Color Specialist, and fell in love with beauty makeup. I started freelancing on my own with weddings, and quinceaneras. From there I went on to work as a Regional Makeup Artist and brow specialist with Anastasia of Beverly Hills. Working alongside Ms. Soire at Nordstrom events in the L.A. and San Diego areas. Once I received my Cosmetology License I was offered a job with NARS cosmetics and went on to their regional artistry team. Supporting Sephora with product sales and employee trainings. I also went on to work for Sexy Hair, & Stila Cosmetics. At this point of my career I decided education and training had become my favorite. Helping others learn & grow as artists was super exciting for me. So in between FX and freelance work, I began teaching. For the past 4 years I’ve been teaching at Sparkle Beauty Studio in Fullerton California. My new love, and my current position in between bridal, FX, and set work.
